Review: Tit Tarts in Strawberry

Today I’m reviewing Strawberry Tit Tarts. Yes, these are boob shaped candies in a little tin. People generally buy them as a prank gift for friends, but sometimes it pays to know what you are buying.

So, are Tit Tarts a gift worth receiving or are they a bad joke? Let’s find out!

Performance

Tit tarts come in a little flip-top bottle that rests nicely in the palm of the hand. Opening and closing the bottle is a snap. All it takes is a flick of the thumb and it’s ready to go. If you tend to reuse bottles, it should work nicely for a little while until the latch wears out. The latch itself is made of a little nub that locks into place. Unfortunately, the plastic is fairly cheap so the nub may break over time from regular use.

The candy itself comes formed into twin raindrop shaped breasts that are fused at the cleavage. Despite the odd breast shape, there is quite a bit of detail in these candies with areolas and nipples fully visible and very clear. Choosing to use a pressed powder sort of candy for this mold was a good move as it allows for higher detail at small sizes like this.

I was rather pleased with the scent of the Tit Tarts. They smell just like strawberry Pez. Considering that both candies are of the pressed powder type, this makes sense. In fact, I have to say that Tit Tarts are one of the nicest Pez knockoffs I have ever seen. There is a pleasant snap when the teeth goes through the candy. From there the candy starts to melt and tastes pleasantly like sweet strawberries without any sort of nasty medicine taste some artificial strawberry candies have.

Despite the name, this candy is not sour at all! Tit Tarts have just the right sweetness to be enjoyably sweet, but not sickening. This sweetness lingers with the aftertaste leaving a very pleasant strawberry candy flavor that reminded me of childhood goodness and left me wanting to eat even more of these little treats. Sadly, they are very expensive for the amount you get so I had to practice restraint.

My only other major gripes with this candy had to do with their shape and texture. The double-boob shape makes the pieces are bigger than you think. This causes the rather tasty candy to disappear even quicker. Also, texture-wise Tit Tarts are a little grainy due to a coarser sugar being used than you would find in Pez. The grains dissolve quickly in the mouth, but the first couple pieces of candy do feel weird and take a little getting used to.

Pros: Excellent flavor, well-made, nice bottle size and shape, easy to open and close, sweet but not too sweet

Cons: Gritty texture, pricey for the amount you get, pieces are fairly large

The Verdict: Worth it

Sure the design is a little tacky, but underneath the tackiness Tit Tarts are a very tasty candy. If you want some racy candy to give as a gag gift or keep around for laughs without being embarrassed by the taste, Tit Tarts are a winner.
